November 2017 - Mexican Skeletons

4th and 5th Grade

Project Title: Mexican Skeletons

Description:
  • The Day of the Dead is a Mexican celebration to honor friends and family members who have passed away.  Art involving skeletons and skulls is associated with the holiday.  Student artists began by developing a preliminary sketch of their skeleton complete with an accessory and an object.  Next, students planned which tools they would use for printing.  Printing day involved construction of their skeletons in motion.  Accessories and objects were drawn in to add color and interest.
