April 2018 - Self Portrait

4 th  and 5 th  Grade Project Title:   Self Portrait Description: Students revisit self portrait drawing throughout elementary school to track their development.  Students reviewed the basics; how to draw facial features, where to place facial features.  It was important to include something to personalize their portrayal; glasses, hat, jewelry, etc.  Artists like Paul Klee and Vincent Van Gogh painted their faces multiple times throughout their lifetime.                                                            Vocabulary: self portrait facial features guidelines Resources: internet examples of self portraits from Van Gogh and Klee      Materials : pencils colored pencils water color pencils crayons Examples of student artwork:    ...

March 2018 - Egyptian Repoussé

4 th  and 5 th  Grade Project Title: Egyptian Re poussé Description: 4th and 5th grade artists were intrigued by the artifacts found in the tombs of Egyptian rulers.  One type of artifact was jewelry worn by pharaohs and queens of the past.
